Venkat Mohan
General Partner, Norwest Venture Partners
Venkat Mohan joined the TrustID Board of Directors in December, 2009.
With a focus on Internet based solutions, including identity-focused solutions, Venkat has more than 25 years experience in marketing and general management. Prior to joining Norwest Venture Partners in 2000, Venkat was president and COO at OnDisplay, a leading provider of internet content management software, which he helped take public in 1999, and which was subsequently acquired by Vignette Corporation. Previously, Venkat was vice president of global marketing and e-commerce at GEIS, formerly one of GE’s 11 operating businesses. He also served as president at Cadis, a software start-up; executive vice president of marketing at VMX, a pioneer in voice processing; and CEO of WIPRO Systems Ltd.
Venkat began his career as an advertising research analyst with Young & Rubicam in New York, where he built mathematical models to measure advertising effectiveness for Y&R’s major clients. He also held marketing and management positions at several companies, including Hewlett Packard and McKinsey.
Venkat was awarded an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was elected a Baker Scholar. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in industrial and system engineering from the University of Florida.
His recent board appointments include 41st Parameter, Clairmail, GXS, RiseSmart and Timebridge. He was formerly a member of the board of directors of Crossweave (acquired by AmberPoint), Softface (acquired by Ariba), and a strategic advisor to Arbortext (acquired by Parametric Technology.)
Dr. David Walrod
Venture Partner, Bridgescale Partners
David Walrod joined the TrustID Board of Directors in December, 2009.
David has been involved with investing in growth technology companies for most of his professional career. From 1999 to 2007, David was a general partner with Oak Investment Partners, where he led and managed equity investments in a range of communications/IT-focused products and services companies, including Lumasense Technologies, Presidio Network Solutions, Qsent, Zayo Group, Wavestream and CoreTek (sold to Nortel).
Before joining Oak, David worked at McKinsey & Company, where he served clients in the telecommunications, media and financial services industries. His primary focus was developing and implementing strategies for new product introduction, evaluating new market opportunities and joint ventures/alliances, as well as developing execution capabilities. David also has significant experience internationally, having worked and lived in China, Indonesia, Brazil and Vietnam.
David received his B.A. in physics from the University of California at Berkeley and earned a Ph.D. in solid state physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the MIT Research Lab of Electronics and completed a J.D. at the Harvard Law School.
David currently serves on the board of directors of Networks and Lumasense Technologies and is serving as an advisor for Gazillion and Pathway Genomics.
Fred Wang
General Partner, Trinity Ventures
Fred joined the TrustID Board of Directors in May, 2010.
With more than 15 years of experience in venture capital, he has led investments in successful companies such as Aruba Networks (ARUN), Illuminet (ILUM), Modulus Video (acquired by Motorola), Network Access Solutions (NASC), Orative (acquired by Cisco), SevenSpace (acquired by Sun), Speedera Networks (acquired by Akamai), and Tut Systems (TUTS).
Prior to joining Trinity Ventures in 1999, he was a partner at Spectrum Equity Investors. Previously, Fred worked at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) with clients such as PG&E, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), AT&T, and Apple Computer. He also held operating positions in the New Technologies Group at Pacific Bell and at Intuit.
Fred is the President of the Western Association of Venture Capital (WAVC), an advisor to the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and is actively involved with the Harvard Business School Alumni Association of Northern California and the Stanford Challenge.
He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, his M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
He currently serves on the board of Aryaka Networks, Avaak, ClearLeap and Exalt Communications.
Patrick M. Cox
Chairman and CEO
Pat has more than 30 years executive experience in the telecommunications and identity industries. He founded TrustID, Inc. in 2007.
In 1998, he was a co-founder and the CEO & Chairman of Qsent until its successful sale to TransUnion (Credit Bureau) in 2006. Qsent’s iQ411 service used real-time telephone company records to help banks and other enterprises control fraud and power marketing processes with the high level of accuracy necessary to make confident economic decisions.
Prior to Qsent, Pat co-founded Metro One Telecommunications, where he led the company from initial start-up to IPO. During his 10 years at Metro One, the company became the largest independent provider of voice-based directory assistance services for the U.S. wireless market.
Pat holds 25 telecommunications technology and service patents that have helped reshape all aspects of 411 services. He is also a certified Class 1 NARTE Telecommunications Engineer.
Pat is an alumnus of the Stanford University “AeA Executive Institute for the Management of High-Technology Companies,” a member of the World Presidents Organization (WPO) and past chapter chair and member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO.)
